Amy - Special Needs

amy.jpg

Amy is an outgoing, spunky little kitten who likes attention but isn’t overly demanding. She can often be seen playing with toys in her habitat even when she’s alone. Amy has also been recently diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes and we’ve begun Insulin treatments. She is allowing treatment without any issues and we are optimistic we will be able to regulate her glucose levels in the near future. Cats can live a good life with diabetes with diligent care. It’s also possible she could go into remission and not need insulin injections for her entire life. Amy has also tested (and re-tested) positive for Feline Leukemia. She will need to be an only cat or live in a home with another Felv+ cat. The disease is not transmitted to dogs or humans. If you’re interested in learning more about this beautiful girl and the care she requires, please let us know. We would be happy to answer all of your questions and we’ll be prepared to help her adopters learn the routine for her care.
